November 2006

Hello! Thanks – really – big, huge thanks, for visiting Katy’s Web site. We love having visitors. It is hard to believe that we’re nearing the end of a huge year for Katy. If you are a first time visitor, here’s what you need to know:

Katy’s debut album A Hand To Hold is a collection of pop-rock tunes, you can buy her CD right here, and you can listen to all of the songs on PureVolume. Katy’s got a page at www.myspace.com/katyeggleton, and she’s happy to be your friend! Her myspace page has a calendar for upcoming shows, so we’ll keep you posted there.

New since we last wrote you – Katy’s on iTunes! Just about the time we managed that feat, Katy was nominated for Best Female Artist at the 2006 Orange County Music Awards, and she attended their annual awards show in April at the Grove of Anaheim. It was an awesome event.

Katy submitted her album to the Los Angeles Music Awards, too, and was surprised with a call from the producer, Al Bowman, inviting her to Santa Monica to receive a nomination for Pop Album of the Year! Thanks again to Rob Seals for making Katy’s album a reality.

Katy’s songs have gotten some industry attention, too. A & R Worldwide featured Katy on their MusExpo Unearthed 2006 compliation CD. Katy’s “Like Something Electrical” which was already a winner from 2005, won grand prize at Best of the Best songwriting contest this summer. She also won a $500 cash prize (cash prizes are really awesome!) at the Unisong International Songwriting contest. Yay! More funding for new music!

In May, Katy formed a band so she could get out and do some shows, and they have performed at a club in Long Beach , at a summer event at San Clemente beach, at school events, at South Coast Plaza , with more to come this winter. Her band is an awesome bunch, all in her class at school. Tyler Demorest anchors the band as drummer and arranger. Conor Carlson is on bass guitar. Oren Shani and Justin Swanson play guitar, both with acoustic and electric talents. In fact, every member of the band plays guitar, so Katy’s now into guitar lessons so that she can learn to speak to her band in their primary language.

Katy’s summer was quite a bit more laid back than that of 2005. She was on a dead run only part of the time. Her primary task was to write songs, and now she has new material that she’ll be arranging with her band so that they can record this winter. We’re not sure how many songs they’ll complete, but enough for an EP at least, and we’ll try to get it out by spring.

Up this fall has been the frenzied college application process. After our college visits in August, Katy picked her faves and she’s off and running, writing essays, essay answers, preparing audition songs, and filling out countless forms. Katy’s got a good mix of schools on her hot list, and the hottest include the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Belmont University in Nashville, Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and University of Southern California right here in Los Angeles! Four very different schools, and all of them rock in some way. Berklee and Belmont are the only two universities in the country we found offering majors in contemporary music. Berklee – a songwriting degree! – the only one of its kind. While classically based, the music program at the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist is amazing, and the Thornton School of Music at USC is just beyond comparison. We’ll let you know as soon as Katy knows!

Thanks for visiting! Come back soon!

February 2006

Welcome to our February issue of KATY, a site devoted to Katy Eggleton and her music. Our cover girl certainly looks like she's got something exciting to smile about. At long last, Katy's debut album A Hand to Hold, is ready to rock the world. Well, the United States, anyway.

In early February we shipped off copies of her new CD to radio stations all over the country. These stations promote music by independent artists, and are primarily college affiliated. Be sure to call your local station and request Katy's music! We're so excited! You can visit her album page for all the details.

Katy is very proud of this accomplishment and she hopes to build a fan base this semester. We've got some live shows planned for you starting in June when school's out for summer.

In addition to radio play, we've got Katy's songs on myspace.com and purevolume.com, so log on, listen, and be Katy's friend! We've got her CDs for sale right here, and also at CDBaby.com, and Amazon.com. We'll have digital distribution at all the major music sites on the Web in two to three months, including iTunes!

Mission accomplished! Thanks for visiting. Check back soon for updates.

October/November 2005

Thank you for visiting katyeggleton.com. KATY is undergoing construction, both on this Web site and in real life! As a 16 year old, the Katy Eggleton we knew a few months ago isn't the same Katy we know now. And, next spring, watch out! She'll be different yet. Sometime soon you'll be able to enjoy Katy's music -- as soon as today we can send you a 2 song demo CD, free for the asking! Just drop us an e-mail and it'll be on its way (offer subject to supplies on hand!). In a couple of months, we'll have a full length album of original songs for you to enjoy.

Katy is a young singer-songwriter with an organic alternative rock sound. In some songs you'll think she's pop. Yet wait, in others she's different. Katy writes sensitive lyrics. Katy wants to become a successful and talented singer, songwriter and performer.

She wants to be well-respected in the music industry by developing her talent to deserve that position.

Katy wants to be confident in her abilities to write songs and perform them, to earn the respect of the people who know her best in all she does. She wants those who know her to see her in her work and appreciate it. She wants to write and sing songs that people can connect with and understand.

Katy lives this mission. Just in the last year, Katy began learning to write songs. With years of music training behind her, she knows what music is all about, yet finds her method of communication taking a lyrical track. After finding her voice in singing, songwriting was the next logical step in her training. We have assembled a great team to work with her so that she can realize these dreams. In the works, Team Katy has much to accomplish. Her 10 song album nears completion, and its release will mark a year-long journey of a young songwriter and music artist. Early in 2006, we'll unveil Katy on stage at her CD launch party. This won't be a backyard affair. Katy, rehearsed and ready for the stage, plans for the bright lights her Grandma Francie always dreamed of. She'll be fronting a killer rock band and fun will be had by all. More on that soon!

Alongside continuing her coaching in songwriting, voice and piano, Katy also continues to be a 16 year old kid. She's a busy junior in high school, taking AP and honors classes at a private college prep school in southern Orange County. You'll see her sporting the familiar white earpieces trailing to her iPod, if not in front of her portable writing an essay for school. She loves her school life and, most of all, her friends. This is the life that gives her songwriting material. A teenager's experiences may not be vast, but they are important, and all teenagers can commiserate with the feelings that make their way into Katy's songs. And the rest of us, well, we understand too.

Through Katy's album of songs, she has learned and grown from the experience of becoming a recording artist. With its completion, she'll embark upon more songwriting and exploration of music she has defined as influential to her. Katy hopes to record an album of cover songs as a way of self-definition. And the next album planned is sure to be different from the first. That's what being a teenager, well, that's what being a person, is all about! Look ahead -- meet, and listen to KATY!
